Your life is your life’s purpose. - Barefoot Ambition - The Intuition Coaching Company - Love The Skin You're In! | Barefoot Ambition – The Intuition Coaching Company – Love The Skin You're In!

Your life is your life’s purpose.

Have you ever struggled with hearing the following advice?‘you just need to find your life’s purpose and everything will make sense from there’ or ‘you need to lead a life of purpose to be happy’. I know I have. However, ‘this purposeful life’ felt unattainable – only meant for certain people not for me- other people’s yellow brick roads looked purposeful- Mine? Not so much.

Then I woke up to this truth –Your Life is your Life’s purpose. No one else gets to be you – no one else gets to have all the experiences and perspectives that you have- no one else can play your crucial part in this world stage of evolution. Your life is your purpose.

Shortly after I picked this card -I made my way to The Barefoot Sanctuary and as I did I came up with the following acronym for the word LIFE.  I suddenly remembered what of one of my recent guests had said on the Good Vibration On Radio Saltire show – The guest in question was Neil Francis Author of Changing Course and his soon to be published book The Entrepreneurs Book.  (You can listen again via Mixcloud). His number one piece of advice (which makes much more sense to me) for entrepreneurs but I think it applies to us all was, ‘follow the excitement’ and  I heard these words –Look Inside and Follow the Excitement  i.e. Live YOUR LIFE and you will feel your most purposeful.

I thought back to Saturday when my for no big reason my LIFE felt purposeful -and I wasn’t doing anything noble to feel that way. I think we often confuse purpose with noble.  I was simply walking through Waverley Station in Edinburgh with my husband. The reason we were there is that it is Home Nations International Rugby time once again. Now to put this into perspective I had spent my 20’s religiously watching these International’s with great gusto but over the last 10 years or so I noticed the desire or excitement to watch them had virtually disappeared. So when Dave asked me if I wanted to join him to watch it at our friend’s house in Edinburgh and I felt a ‘yes’ answer I was as surprised as he was.

When I trust that excitement feeling that Neil was talking about-I always go onto to feel a lightness in whatever situation it is connected to. In this energy my choices and footsteps feel light. I am so familiar with it coming and going but when the knowing returned once more on Saturday in this situation somehow it felt all the more beautiful. As the thousands of individual’s moved through the station on Saturday – each and every single one of us going about our purposeful lives – I could really feel again that lightness and a sense of purpose in the air- and I remember thinking -everyone is exactly where they are meant to be, to be on purpose. No-one is in the wrong life – no one is in a less purposeful life. We are all playing the parts we need to be playing at this exact time to make this Universal expansion of consciousness take place.

All the world’s a stage,
And all the men and women merely players. William Shakespeare.

We won’t necessarily understand it at the time – it may even seem trivial but it will lead to a sense of lightness and I can’t think of a more purposeful way to walk this earth. We went on to have a lovely day, saw old faces and reconnected- and I also saw a whole new perspective of Edinburgh by taking the spontaneous opportunity to climb Craiglockhart Hill and of course the result was incredible for Scotland at least- maybe I’m their lucky mascot!

So today when a decision is needed – why not Look Inside and Follow your Excitement and when you look back you’ll see how your life had purpose all along.

With love until tomorrow.

    Hi Bernie
This post really resonated with me – having left a ‘noble’ profession a couple of years ago I have been concerned that my life now might lack purpose ( even though I know I am happier and more fulfilled pottering about at home) At the time I read your blog I was feeling excited ( and nervous) about meeting 2 wee dogs I am hoping to rehome. I was wondering if this was just another displacement for getting a ‘proper’ job but I am now following the excitement with confidence that I am living the life that’s right for me. Thank you!
