Where is your focus?

I was sitting on the train to Edinburgh contemplating my next post which is due up tomorrow, the new automatic deadline I have put on my mail out seems to be playing havoc with my creativity, but at the same time I realise it may also be acting as a gentle nudge to allow me to say f**k it at times, as I have to own up to skipping this deadline last week when I chose to stay in the…

“Self esteem isn’t everything, it’s just that there’s nothing without it”. Gloria Steinem

I couldn't say it better myself, and for someone who spent years struggling with low self esteem (despite appearances) I place it's importance and the very centre of our entire being. The difference a healthy self esteem makes to every aspect of our lives sometimes feels so overwhelming I want to cry (with tears of joy). Sometimes I just can't quite believe how far I've come and yet at the same time I realise that this, will only get better…

Barefoot Interview: Leah Cox from Whereislife.com

It's Friday 23rd May and as I write, I'm sitting in the Coaching room of The Barefoot Sanctuary in North Berwick. In the Barefoot Room next to me a Pilates class is underway. If I look out the window I can just see the top of the Berwick Law and it's Whale's Jaw bone. Some people are actually standing at the top taking in the view and are just starting to make their way back down. I have no doubt…

Who do you want to be?

Over the Easter holidays, together with my husband, my 10 year old son and one of his friends, we headed off one evening to the cinema to watch Spider man 2. I love the comic hero productions and it's great to have comic hero mad boys around to ensure that we see them on the big screen. The new spider man also happens to be in the Devine form of Andrew Garfield who let's face it, is just adorable so…

Do you just need to catch your breath?

On Friday mornings I do a Bootcamp class, it's outdoors sometimes in the park woods or on the beach depending on Lee's route. Sometimes I seem to sail through, other times it's horrible and last week well, this is how it went.. My legs felt heavy and within 5 minutes I was telling myself really encouraging messages like 'I'm so unfit' ( I'm not). 5 more minutes in, and I was puffing and panting and by the 30 minute mark,…

To Nap or not to nap, that is the question!

It's Thursday 13th March 2013 and with 1 week to go to the next Love the Skin You're in workshop, I become aware that my internal chatter has become more negative, and find that my inner critic has left me feeling weary. This always brings to mind the lovely quote, 'physician heal thyself first', and I know inspired action is needed. A few hours ago I sat down to edit my latest blog before posting it and quite miraculously I…

Are you, your very own litter bug?

In my final year of school, I became a Senior School Prefect. I'll confess, I had dreamed of being once since the first year, looking up to the Senior Prefects with real admiration, seeing them as Goddesses! (In my first year it was still a mostly Girls school, changing from a Convent only 4 years previously ). Due to that early admiration and dream, when it happened, it meant something to me and I was proud to be one, even…

What other people think of you is none of your business!

Bernie, what other people think of you, is none of your business". Those were the words, that fell loudly on my ears in July 2010, whilst sitting having a coffee with one of my Priory therapists, in a cafe in South Side Glasgow. You know when someone says something so memorable to you don't you, that you can even, right now, time travel backwards and see yourself so clearly in that moment, right down to the weather and what you…

So tell me what you want, what you really really want!

The Spice Girls where really onto something you know! Okay so it is mid January 2014 and I'm finally feeling more creative and writing this piece, one full month after my last post. How's that for a Christmas break . I've had several days of writing come and go but without much inspiration and which again showed me that I had a lot of processing to do since my last post and that there was a definite possibility that my…
